Best day trips from Sydney


Sydney is an amazing city to visit with so much on offer. However there is so much more to this area than just Sydney city. Venture a little further and step outside the city to see these fantastic places. These destinations can be enjoyed on a day trip or if you have a little longer you could spend a couple of days.

1. South Coast

Some of the best beaches in Australia are located along the South Coast of NSW in Australia. From Kiama to Batemans Bay and everywhere in between, this coastline offers cute little towns and spectacular beaches.

The cute seaside town of Kiama is located only 2 hours from Sydney so is easily reached for a day trip. Choose to visit the beaches, wander the shops or people watch from the many cafes lining the streets

2. Royal National Park

The Royal National Park is quickly becoming a popular attraction when visiting Sydney. The Royal National Park is located only 1 hr drive from the CBD of Sydney.

Most popular with hikers looking to explore a little, the park has become known for the Figure 8 Pools which have become an instagram hit. Not as easy hike to reach the pools, but spectacular when you arrive makes it worth the effort. If you do intend to visit the pools, make sure you plan on arriving at low tide

3.Blue Mountains

The Blue Mountains is a magical place to visit. The Blue Mountains and Greater area is World Heritage listed. Whether you like bush walking, canyoning, art galleries, cafes, spa’s, shops or just simply visiting the famous sites, the Blue Mountains has something for everyone.

The Blue Mountains will take you about 90 minutes to reach. Most easily reached by car, it is also accessible by train, bus or even a day tour from the city.

The Three Sisters is the most famous landmark in the Blue Mountains area. Located at Echo Point Katoomba this is a must see on any visit to the area.

4. Hunter Valley

The Hunter Valley is famous for its vineyards, wine and spectacular food and scenery. Located only a 2 hour drive from Sydney, the Hunter Valley can easily be reached for a day trip. To truly appreciate the area though, plan to spend at least one night.

Plan to visit Peterson House for breakfast, Bistro Molines for lunch and Muse Restaurant for dinner for some of the best food you have ever eaten.

Peterson House is famous for its champagne breakfast and should not be missed.

Bistro Molines is a stunning restaurant with views over the surrounding vineyards and one of the best feeds you will get in the area. Adjoining Bistro Molines is Tallavera Grove cellar door, so if you feel like tasting some of the local wines this is a good option
